The Donacloney collection is a collaboration with textile designer Trish Belford, celebrating historical Northern Irish Design combined with modern creativity and playfulness. Inspired by a unique collection of photographic glass plates from a Heritage Lottery funded project “Reviving William Liddell’s Damask Designs” this colourful collection of decorative fabrics, respects the past while firmly placing itself in a contemporary setting. The glass plates were discovered during the dismantling of the Ewart-Liddell factory in Donacloney, County Down. These unique plates document the design and development for Liddell’s damask patterns, representing the labour of a highly skilled workforce of designers, draftsmen and woman and weavers working for the Company during the years 1900’s to 1970’s.
