Adhesive Scatter Coat

AT William clark & sons, our adhesive scatter coating is a specialised type of surface treatment using a powder-based adhesive to enhance bonding capabilities.

What is Adhesive Scatter Coat?

Adhesive scatter coat is the process of applying adhesive powder / granules to the surface of a material.  The adhesive is melted and forms a bond with the material being coated whilst remaining on the surface, it is cooled in process so it can be rolled without sticking to itself.  The thermo reactive properties of the adhesive allow the coated surface to bond to a face material when fused using a fusing press or other suitable equipment.  The scattered nature of the adhesive application provides a particularly strong bond and can be applied as a single side or double side coating.  Using various adhesive polymers a wide range of technical performance capabilities can be achieved including fusing temperature, wash performance and handle.

CREATING A RELILABLE FULLY FINISHED FABRIC

This coating technique is commonly used in the production of various textile products, including apparel, upholstery, and technical textiles but can also be used with non wovens and paper.  Available in a coating width up to 200cm with tailored characteristics to your end requirements.  Using a fusing press or other bonding equipment to provide heat and pressure composite materials can be created to improve strength, durability, thermal performance and handle to name a few benefits.

Uses of adhesive scatter coating
  • Make material receptive to bonding as part of a composite
  • Facilitate a stock holding of a base or support material that can be utilised with numerous face fabrics allowing low stock holdings and quick turnarounds of many combined variants

YOUR FABRIC, OUR EXPERTISE

Our scatter coating provides various benefits and  typically contains fewer volatile organic compounds (VOCS) compared to liquid adhesives leading to a lower environmental impact.
