Knife Coating

At William Clark & Sons, we meticulously apply the knife coating to our clients fabrics ensuring uniform coverage and a flawless finish of their fabrics.

What is Knife Coating?

Knife coating is the application of a treatment to the surface or structure of a material via one face per pass.  The type of treatment is determined by the chemicals used and whether this is applied as a paste or a foam.  The knife position determines the amount of treatment applied and how far this absorbs into the body of the material being coated.  Material can be coated on one or both faces and unique finishes can be obtained by accumulated coating passes.  Further process such as texturizing or embossing the surface are possible.
