William Clark & Sons become GOTS certified
As the global textile industry continues to evolve, sustainability is no longer just a buzzword—it's a necessity. Those within the supply chain are increasingly demanding transparency, ethical production, and environmentally friendly practices from textile suppliers such as William Clark & Sons. With a history spanning back over 300 years, this change presents both a challenge and an opportunity. One of the most significant steps William Clark & Sons have taken is obtaining Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certification.
What is GOTS Certification?
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the leading worldwide textile processing standard for organic fibres. It covers the entire textile supply chain, from harvesting raw materials through environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing, to labelling of finished products. The GOTS certification ensures that textiles are produced in a way that meets high environmental and social criteria, making it a symbol of excellence in the sustainable textile industry.
Our Path to Certification:
Achieving GOTS certification is not a simple process, but it’s a worthwhile investment for for William Clark & Sons as a leading Northern Irish textile manufacturer.
• Organic Fibre Production: The fibres used must be certified organic. This means they are grown without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
• Sustainable Manufacturing: As a GOTS-certified facility, William Clarks & Sons meet strict environmental criteria throughout the production process. This includes the use of non-toxic dyes, wastewater treatment, and the reduction of water and energy usage.
• Social Responsibility: Workers' rights are a crucial part of GOTS certification. The standard ensures fair wages, safe working conditions, and the prohibition of child labour.
• Quality Control: Throughout our supply chain, there are strict measures to maintain product integrity, ensuring that our clients receive a high-quality, genuinely organic product.
