Modern Nomad was created out of a challenging new initiative by three Northern Irish owned companies, Crepe Weavers, William Clark & Sons and Elastic Knitting, bringing together over 500 years combined experience in textiles. The objective is to take advantage of the synergy from their combined capabilities and expertise in fabric making, finishing and finishes, to diversify into new markets. The result is Modern Nomad, launched to create and market a single collection which combines leading edge technical performance with all the right aesthetics to meet the needs of the modern consumer.
The Modern Nomad collection brings together many contrasting features which makes it so appealing for emerging garment categories which draw inspiration from ready to wear, active performance and travel clothing. Fabrics can be both technical and refined, from paper lightweights through to tough Cordura® outdoor weaves, from high performance sporty knits in Lycra® to new denim themes in linen, cotton and synthetics, from waterproof/breathable Tactel® shell fabrics to glamorous lurex prints. Added to all these are sophisticated polyurethane coatings and laminates, giving a new handle and drape to knits and weaves as well as technical performance attributes. Other novelties include knits bonded together, and knits bonded to wovens, offering an added dimension for garment styling.
These fabrics are themed into 4 categories:
- Street plenty of urban chic, with toughness combined with good looking lightweights
- Elements outstanding waterproof/breathables, for protection in all conditions, with stylish face fabrics bringing the right touch to the high street and the mountain slopes
- Active it doesn't matter if you're performing or not, the fabrics have to deliver! The sports look, added to real functional performance.
